For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18

Nora - Miss you and Harold. I too am glad for those hymns, old and new, that encourage me and help me each day. Thanks for your comments and most of all thanks for your faithful service and prayers for COM and for all of us. You and Harold are special folks and we are truly thankful to have you be a part of our lives.

Roger, you are very right in saying the old hyms are important. They convey age old messages our ancestors knew. And when we can recall the messages they convey at times when we are in need, they can be a great comfort.

I am finding that the words to "Just a Closer Walk With Thee" helps me in my day to day committment to follow our Lord.

Thanks for your words
Nora

Roger, enjoyed reading your insights into worship. Maybe you could mention some examples of the songs you referenced that are really "cool and uplifting" but do not have a place in our corporate worship. This would help me understand even more about this concept.
