Opportunities
Church on Mill has a long-standing tradition of being a mission-minded
church. This is reflected in the variety of missionaries and missions
organizations we support.
What We Believe About Missions
We believe that the focus of Missions at COM should be to help fulfill the Great
Commission, not just in our community, but "to the remotest
part of the earth"--
Acts 1:8.
This commission challenges us to make disciples among all
nations, to baptize them and to teach them to live under the Lordship
of Jesus Christ--
Matt. 28:19-20.
COM Missions Leadership Team: Purpose
Working within the context of Church on Mill's vision, mission, and purpose
statements, the Missions Leadership Team serves to lead COM to a world vision of
missions through education, promotion, participation, giving and church
planting. We have determined to give priority to Southern Baptist
missionaries and missions projects on the local, state, North American and
international level. We are committed to keeping the body of believers at
COM informed about our adopted people, missionaries and churches.
Missions Giving
Our goal for this year is 75 families or individuals giving $5 per week
for a total of $20,000. To date we have received over $10,000 for the
Unified Missions Offering. This money will be given to the International
Missions Board, North American Missions Board, Arizona Southern Baptist
Convention, Casa De Amor Baptist Center, Southern Baptist Emergency Relief Fund,
and to support our adopted people group.
Designated Giving
We encourage people to continue giving to Southern Baptist missions during special times
of the year. We collect offerings for Arizona Baptist Children’s Services,
State Missions, North American Missions, International Missions, Casa De Amor Baptist
Center and SBC emergency relief work. Many people also choose to give to the BSM, JIBC
and volunteer missions trips. In 2005 we gave $125,051 to missions through The
Cooperative Program, designated giving and the Unified Missions Offering.
With increased opportunities to contribute to missions through the Unified Missions Offering
in addition to designated missions giving, Church on Mill continues to give
more to missions each year.
