Jonah Bible Study

Women’s Bible Study – Wednesday Nights at 6:30pm
Join us for a 5-week study starting on April 4.  Kona with Jonah (one in the Coffee Cup Bible Studies series by Sandra Glahn), explores more than just a chronology about the Israelite prophet Jonah.  We also catch a glimpse of God’s heart for the lost and the compassion of heaven for a nation of hopeless causes. More than that, we also discover the response God wants his followers to have toward all people, even the most flagrantly violent and immoral, including their enemies. Especially their enemies.  Location TBA.  Sign up on the patio starting March 25.  See Amy Diehl or Amy Mottern for more information.

Be Transformed Bible Study

A new 9 week women’s Bible study will be starting on Wednesday nights, beginning March 21 at 6:30pm. The book is called Be Transformed and is based on material from Dr. Scott Hadden of Scope Ministries. It is a guide to an intense examination of the misconceptions and patterns of belief we hold that keep us from knowing our true identitites in Christ. This is a study for those who want to become unstuck from what has been holding them back from experiencing true joy in Christ. The class will be limited to 10 to allow for the group dynamic needed for this material.

For more information see Denise Dotti.

Bible studies beginning next week

Training vs Trying
Join us on Wednesday nights from 6:30pm-8:00pm, beginning January 11th. Location TBD.
This study is about living out the character of Jesus sustained by the power that He gives us
by practicing spiritual disciplines. We will be learning about and practicing scripture meditation,
prayer, solitude, endurance, and loving others. You can purchase a book for $5 through Church
on Mill. For more information contact Katina Skinner.

You Can Change
This study shows how change and growth takes place in the Christian life-how we can
overcome sinful behavior and negative emotions through the liberating grace of God. It shows
not only that change takes place through faith rather than legalism, but also shows how change
takes place through faith. It’s built around ten questions than enables readers to work on a
particular issue in their own lives. Join us on Thursdays from 7:00-9:00 in the College Building,
starting on January 12th. For more information contact Jennifer Wood or Andrea Heaton.

Connect Retreat Recap

We connected – all that needs to be said is MAD GAB! Wow was that a crazy-fun time or what!?

We also had a great Bible learning time helping us to connect to God’s Word. Beth Moore lead us through WE ALSO. Here are the 7 points in case you missed one:
1. We have been created for good company.
2. An individual calling can only be fulfilled in a “we context.”
3. God never overlooks a single me in the bigger we.
4. Jesus became a friend of sinners so that we could become a friend of God.
5. We can revel in the certainty of the things we’ve been taught.
6. Jesus has passed us the salt also.
7. We can also be many convincing proofs that Jesus is alive.

Connecting to God through prayer, worship, and communion were also special times.

Connect – Transform – Live.

From Beth Moore’s Blog:

My Dear Sister
God has chased you down
And called you ALSO
You have a job to do
But you can’t really be you
Until you find a bigger “we”
You were created for good company
But never, ever forget
God never overlooks a single “me”
In that great big “we”
Let Jesus be the “He”
In your hermeneutic
Everything He teaches you
Is so that He can reach to you
Give Him open access
To every part of your life
Every struggle
Every temptation
Every aggravation
Every addiction
Every craving
All your caving
Give Him full authority
He’ll give you back your victory
As we go our separate ways
Always remember
That Jesus has passed you the salt
Shake some things up out there
To the greatness of Christ, the Son
Now unto Him who is able
To keep your feet from falling
Be glory and majesty
Power and authority
Forever and ever
Amen
We love y’all!

New Wednesday Night Bible Study for Women

Ladies, do you ever wonder…Does my life have meaning and purpose? Am I fulfilling that purpose? What is my role as a woman and what are God’s priorities for me, and does the Bible clearly spell that out? What does a godly woman look like? How do I balance my life and all its activities and still grow as a woman of God? Am I missing the secret to contentment as a woman? Then join us this fall as we study “Called to be a Keeper: Learning and Living God’s Priorities”. This is a 10 week study based on Titus 2:3-5 and Proverbs 31:10-3 facilitated by Jill Newkirk and Amy Diehl. The workbook is $16, and there will also be video teaching by author Lori Merrill, and “skill session” videos on topics such as organization, hospitality, cooking, etc. We will meet on Wednesday nights beginning August 17 from 6-8pm, and childcare is provided. Thursday Night Bible Study for Women

Join us Thursday nights at 7:00 in the College Building for a Women’s Bible Study. For the first seven weeks, we will be working through the workbook by Frances Chan: Remembering the Forgotten God. In this workbook, author Francis Chan reminds us of the true source of the church’s power—the Holy Spirit. Chan contends that we’ve ignored the Spirit for far too long, and that without Him, we operate in our own strength, only accomplishing human-sized results. Offering a compelling invitation to understand, embrace, and follow the Holy Spirit’s direction in our lives the workbook is designed to initiate and facilitate discussion, interaction and practical application. Please sign up on the patio or contact Jennifer Wood for more information.
