Please have these children meet Andrea Heaton on the preschool playground. Note that 5-6 graders are included at this time.
Easter morning Worship Care for babies-2 year olds will open at 10:30am. Preschool Church (3year-Kinder) and Children’s Church (1-4 grade) will be dismissed to regular classrooms prior to the sermon.
Following the worship gathering we will have Easter Egg Hunts for all preschoolers and children. Preschoolers and parents need to gather around the preschool playground wall. Babies-toddlers egg hunt will be first, then the 2-3 year olds, ending with the 4-Kinders. Each preschooler needs to pick up a blue egg hunt bag when they begin the hunt. Children 1-6 grade will meet on the main lawn and be given a blue egg hunt bag and instructions. Their hunt will be around buildings 7, 8, 9.
In March during Gospel Project we move from the introduction of God’s covenant with Abraham to bless all people to seeing how the covenant is renewed with Isaac and again with Jacob. Through the line of the patriarchs, God brought His ultimate plan for salvation.
Despite difficult circumstances, God remained faithful to the people to whom His promise was given, in preparation for the salvation that would come through Jesus Christ.
This month’s Big Picture Questions include:
- How did people know God’s plan?
- What can stop God’s plans?
- What new name did God give Jacob?
- Who is always with us?
- Why did God send Joseph to Egypt?
Be sure to spend to some each week with your preschooler going over the Big Picture Question and discover the answer together. Help your preschooler make the Christ Connection.
Last Sunday in Gospel Project our preschoolers has the question: Why did God choose Abraham? This question opened the unit on God’s covenant with people. God chose Abraham to be a par tof HIs covenant plan to send Jesus to earth to bring us salvation.
This Sunday’s lesson is God Tested Abraham. The question this week is: How can we show we believe God’s plan? We obey God even when He asks us to do things we don’t understand.
And next week is the last lesson in this unit – The Sons of Abraham with the question: Who always keeps His covenant? God is always faithful to keep His covenant; people should always trust God.
If your preschool has missed a week in Gospel Project please talk with the preschool church teacher about getting the Big Picture Card from the week you missed.
Gospel Project this Sunday - Job
The Book of Job speaks volumes to the problem of human suffering. It is also an important picture of how a suffering person should relate to God. Though Job sometimes doubted God, he never turned away. Job’s suffering actually brought him closer to God.
God is all-powerful, sovereign, and good. We can trust Him when we don’t understand the pain we experience. At the cross, God used the ultimate pain to bring about the ultimate good: our future and final salvation from sin.
Our question this week is who is in control?
Gospel Project – The Tower of Babel
Even after God had destroyed all life on earth through the flood, and graciously saved Noah’s family and the animals, it wasn’t long before people disobeyed God again. Instead of bringing glory to God by following His plan, people decided to ignore God’s plan and glorify themselves.
When God confused the languages of the people, they moved away from one another and into people groups and nations bound by single languages. Eventually one of these nations would become God’s chosen people. Through the nation of Israel, Christ would come to save the world.
Prepare your preschooler for this Sunday’s question – What happens when people choose to sin?
“You bring darkness, it becomes night, and all the beasts of the forest prowl.” Psalm 104:20
Did you know that some animals stay awake all night long?! God designed them that way so they can get the food they need. It also keeps the food chain in balance… isn’t God smart! At Wednesday night Preschool Beginnings on Jan. 23, 6:30pm, we will explore the forest and nocturnal animals with Hide n Seek glow lights, forest animal art, a forest diorama, puzzles and play-doh.
We will also find out that not only does God bring darkness at night, but He also brought it during the day when Jesus died on the cross for our sins… a little talk about the darkness of our sin and the glorious gift of God to erase it.
Hope to see you there!
In Gospel Project last week the preschoolers looked at the question What is Sin?
Sin is breaking God’s law, and sin separates people from a holy God. When Adam and Eve broke God’s rule, sin entered their lives and became a part of all of mankind.
Christ Connection – God chose not to leave Adam, Eve, and all of humanity without hope. God sent His Son, Jesus, to live as Adam didn’t—perfectly sinless. Jesus was God in the flesh sent to rescue people from their sin.
This coming Sunday the question is Why does Sin separate people from God? The story will focus on Noah and the ark.
In Preschool Beginnings this week the preschoolers explored Psalm 104:19 “The moon marks off the season, and the sun knows when to go down.” Next week they will explore dark, night and forest animals from verse 20.
This Sunday, January 6, Gospel Project begins!
Preschoolers in the 2/3 and 4/K Sunday School classes at 9:30 and preschool church class for 3-K’s will begin Gospel Project this week. Your preschooler will receive a Big Picture Card at the end of Preschool Church. This card is to help with family Bible study and discussion at home.
Gospel Project is our new curriculum for our preschoolers (2y-K) and kids (1-4gd). We will begin using it on January 6 in both the 9:30 Sunday School hour and during preschool church and children’s church in the 10:45 hour. At the end of the 10:45 hour each child will be given a Big Picture Family Card that has the Bible story picture, big Picture Question and Christ Connection. Use the Big Picture Card to have further discussion at home.
