Lies We Believe – New Sermon Series at Church on Mill starting Sunday

LWB_COM-515What if some of the core ideas we build our daily lives around are lies? Unfortunately, that is reality. Every day we believe things that are simply false. Friends, co-workers, our own minds, family, and even the church unknowingly feed us destructive, joy-stealing untruths. But through the Christian Scriptures we have hope! In this series we will put some of the most notorious lies under a microscope, examine them in light of the gospel, and discover – together – how to overcome the Lies We Believe.

Join us on Sunday, January 5th at 10:45 a.m., as we address the first lie: “God won’t give me more than I can handle.” Don’t forget to invite a friend as well!

Other lies that we will examine are:

  • The grass is greener on the other side.
  • This marriage is way too difficult: I married the wrong person.
  • The safest place to be is in the center of God’s will.
  • I’m not my brother’s keeper.
  • Good Christians don’t get angry, anxious, worried, or depressed.
  • My sexual choices aren’t hurting anyone.
  • What’s right for you is not necessarily right for me: you have your truth and I have mine.
  • There are many paths to heaven.
  • Work, looks, people and possessions determine worth.
  • I earned this money so it’s mine.
  • What I feel is what is real.
