Team KID on mission together

In November and December during Team KID on Wed nights the kids will be having a variety of on mission together activities.

We are collecting items to make Finals Survival Bags for ASU students. We will give these bags to various students for them to share with their friends. Pray for our students to have opportunities to have Gospel conversations as they let their friends know the kids at church are praying for them. Donations needed include: granola bars, sm bags microwave popcorn, mints, gum, and mechanical pencils. Thank you for all the index cards, we have enough of them. We need the items by Nov. 16 in the children’s building.

Here’s our schedule for the rest of the semester:

Nov 2 – Skype with the Kenneys in Indonesia, ASU Finals Survival Bags

Nov 9 – Desert Botanical Garden guest speaker and project, ASU Finals Survival Bags

Nov 16 – Africa Night – hearing from Dr. David Johnson,  and the Eardenshohns (on leave staying in missionary house), ASU Finals Survival Bags

Nov 23 – night off for Thanksgiving

Nov 30 – field trip to help clean at Tempe High – going to help Laura Randleman and Lisa Ginn in their classrooms – they will be helping transport kids along with Andrea, Jennifer, Sam, and John

Dec 7 – Life Among the Nations – sharing the Christmas Story with international students and practicing an English class – Jan Lows and some of her students will be attending

Dec 14 – Christmas Party – last night until Jan. 11

Fall Festival

Fall Festival – on mission together.

At the end of the month Church on Mill will participate in 3 neighborhood Fall Festivals with the focus on meeting neighbors and having Gospel conversations.

Choose one Fall Festival to attend as a family. Help prepare your child to be on mission with you as he/she plays games with other children from the neighborhood. Encourage your child to interact and make friends.

We will have costumes, candy, games, and snacks just like the Fall Festivals in previous years. So, choose where your family would like to be on mission together:

  • Saturday, October 29, 3-6pm - Matt & Jenny Estes’ Apartment
  • Saturday, October 29, 4-6pm – Misael & Alexis Cabrera’s Neighborhood
  • Monday, October 31, 5-7pm – David & Jessica Oak’s/Cody & Christina Moore’s Neighborhood

Training will be provided on Sunday, October 23, 6pm in the east wing. We will help you explore having Gospel conversations. Child care provided for the little ones.

Sign up on the clipboards on the patio to let us know which Fall Festival your family will be participating at. Pray for God to help people know about Jesus as we serve together.

Dig Update

Great time Sunday night digging into what the Bible says about relationships. The kids looked first at Eph 5:21 and discussed what submit and reverence mean/look like. Ask your kids about our snack time.

Then we looked at what that means in families as we read Eph 5:22-6:4. A wife submits by showing respect to her husband. A husband submits by loving and serving his wife. Kids submit by obeying and honoring their parents.

Stephen lead us in a great discussion about Eph 4:32 Be kind and compassionate forgiving each other, just as in Christ, God forgave you. We talked about pushing buttons! This lead into Ramon guiding us through the Old Testament story of Joseph and his family. Ramon used the Big Picture Story Bible to help the kids see Eph 4:32 played out in Joseph’s life. We had a game using pool tubes to show how boundaries and forgiveness work together.

We ended our time with Prov. 27:17 As iron sharpens iron so one man sharpens another.  The kids each made a prayer pillowcase to help them remember that prayer is one of our best tools to help sharpen one another. Ask your kids about what they wrote on their pillowcase and why? Help them pray for what concerns them.

Keep talking about redeeming relationships.
